Koski Boatworks is a small business focused on the restoration of classic water craft, with a big emphasis on thoughtful process and careful execution in the care of these rare and special boats. It seemed only natural that their values lined up so well with Bradford Ink’s.
Additional projects included a high quality double sided business card and a 4×7 door hanger for use at boat shows and meetings to hang on rails and riggings.
We started with a dynamic logo that blends Koski Boatworks’ hand-crafted fabrication expertise with a vibrant enthusiasm for boating performance heritage with a chisel integrated into a console-boat hull. Calm blue hues incorporate classic seaside lifestyle with natural oceanic shades. The logo was finished up with a serif font that felt grounded and timeless, just like the methods they use to keep these old boats afloat.
A set of understated business cards and 4 x 7 door hangers were created in addition to the logo design.
The cards are simplistic and have a straightforward tone that fits the character and honesty of the woodworking. The front side features the centered logo and the back has a nautical map that lends a whimsical sense of adventure.
The door hangers needed to be classy and upmarket to really grab the attention of boat owners at gatherings, so the first step was to really provide a stand-out wood grain that made Koski Boatworks immediately synonymous with fine woodworking. Careful lighting and shadow placement lends a touch of dimension that further accentuates the grain. The bottom features an elegant sailing knot to help divide the content and suggest a footer. On the back, further use of the nautical map adds an element of interest and maintains clear ties to the business card which would likely be used in conjunction with the door hanger.
